Since when is a five pound note considered "change"?

"Flat A"?

Oh, you must mean "Flat #2"! (aka - and God knows why - "Flat A")

Did you know that, in England, the "#" symbol is called a "cross-hatch plus-mark"? It's completely true. On automated phone systems, they say things like "Depress the cross-hatch plus-mark to continue engaging in this telephone call."
